Theology 10: Themes of Hebrew Scripture and Meeting Jesus in Word and Action
1 year
1 credit

Through the study of Scripture as covenant history, the students are provided with a Judeo-Christian way of understanding themselves, and of relating to the world. God is understood as being with and for God's people. In the first semester, the students study the Hebrew Scriptures in order to develop a deeper understanding of how God has worked in human history and still works in the present. During the second semester, the students study the person and Gospel message of Jesus Christ as well as the Church's proclamation of the Christian message. Students focus on the Synoptic Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Epistles and have the opportunity to apply the Gospel themes to their own life experience. Themes and passages of the Christian Scriptures are explored through prayer.

Theology 11: Social Justice
1 year
1 credit

This course guides students to a critical reflection of their society and their world. It explores the meaning of justice as enunciated in the scriptures and in the words of religious leaders. It leads students to a greater awareness of the interdependence of all peoples and the responsibility inherent in that interdependence. Principles of social justice are examined and applied to specific topics such as:
poverty, prejudice and discrimination, violence, and environmental concerns. Students study these issues and have an opportunity to take action.

Theology 12: Faith and Spirituality
1 semester
1/2 credit

The twelfth grade course consists of a one semester class that focuses on religious faith: the personal experience, the development, the content and the expression of our spirituality. The course will be designed to assist the students in integrating their previous theology classes, in broadening and deepening an understanding of their faith and faith commitment, and in preparing to have more personal responsibility for the living of their faith in the future.
